
Louis has always been an active participant in and contributor to the Louisville community and is passionate in his belief that we all have an obligation to “give back” to our communities.
Louis is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Jewish Hospital St. Mary’s Healthcare, a non-profit corporation that operates 40 medical-related affiliates in Louisville and Southern Indiana. The principal affiliates are Jewish Hospital, a 550-bed medical center teaching hospital associated with the University of Louisville School of Medicine, St. Mary’s & Elizabeth Hospital, and Our Lady of Peace Hospital.
He is also:
- Trustee of the Louisville Zoo Board of Directors, where he serves as the Vice-Chair of the Board and former General Counsel.
- Chair of the Board of Trustees of The Bingham Clinic, a child psychiatric treatment facility.
- Member of the Board of Directors of the Kentucky Derby Festival, where he serves as a member of the Executive Committee and Treasurer.
- Chair of the Official Host Program for Churchill Downs
- Graduate of Leadership Louisville (1990), Bingham Fellows III, (1994), Bingham Fellows 2002, and a participant of the Harvard Business School’s Governing for Non-Profit Excellence Education Program (2002).
Louis has been recognized for his commitment to the community by being recognized as:

- Recipient of the Louisville Bar Association’s Distinguished Service Award (2002)
- The Legal Aid Society’s Outstanding Volunteer Lawyer (2000)
